Starting with George Orwell's 1984, written in 1948, this workshop focuses on key incidents that have taken place since that date. We learn why the NHS was set up and how it has changed and evolved over time. Why the Olympic Games were so important and very ahhoc at the time, known as The Austerity Games. We jump to different time periods during this topic and visit both sides of The Berlin Wall, seeing it's rise and fall.
We enter the space race and encounter the moon landing and see how technology moved forward. With our miner's strikes, we learn how different it was in the 70's, to the 80's strikes and how life changed drastically for people living north after the miners were defeated.
The Kennedy assassination is another topic we visit and discuss, with all it's conspiracy theories and intrigue before moving onto a happier ending for our workshop, Bob Geldof's Band Aid concert and what an incredible achievement it was. By looking at these major events we see how they have impacted on our lives today.
Once again the workshop is fully interactive and everyone takes a role throughout
